The Domain

Our Domain is based in Westhalten, at the bottom of the Grand Cru Zinnkoepflé culminating at 430 meters, in the heart of the Vallée Noble, and south of Colmar.

We are protected from the prevailing winds and bad weather by the massive Vosgien. Great wines have been produced here for several hundred years. The subsidence of the Rhine valley is at the origin of the mosaic of terroirs present in Alsace. This complexity leads us to cultivate our parcels and to vinify our productions individually, in order to express at best the originality of each climate.

Our philosophy

In order to preserve the richness of our wines and make you discover them, we cultivate our Domain in organic and Biodynamic agriculture (Demeter), in the greatest respect of the natural balances.

The soils are ploughed or scratched, depending on the rhythm of the vineyard. The care, mostly manual, is adapted to each plot according to its needs.

The vine can thus optimize its growth by drawing the various nutrients it needs. The protection of plants is the result of an understanding of the plant, the control of its vigor, and the balance of the soil.

The maturing of our wines

After pressing for several hours, we let the juice settle, then vat it for fermentation with the indigenous yeasts. Fermentation can last from three weeks to several months, depending on the vintage. The wine is then aged on fine lees and bottled at the end of the following summer. The combination of ancestral and modern techniques allows us to express the terroirs of the Domaine at their best and to offer you unique and inimitable wines. Varietal wines

The sandstone on which we produce our varietal wines gives them finesse and expression of fruit.

Schwarzberg

The Schwarzberg is located in the municipalities of Bergholtz and Bergholtz-Zell. It is renowned for the quality of its soil, a mixture of silt and sandstone from the decomposition of sandstone.

Grand Cru Saering

The Riesling is distinguished on this terroir by a floral character and a pleasant fruitiness, sensitive from their early youth. Less lively than those of Kitterlé or Spiegel, they have a smoother, rounder acidity and a less conspicuous minerality.

Grand Cru Zinnkoepflé

The shell limestone of its soil and its microcli- mat allow the elaboration of powerful and elegant wines. Produced with low yields, these wines require an ageing ofa few years to reveal all their beauty.
